SUITING PROGRAM
The Professional Attire Program is the signature program of Dress for Success and the one for which it gets the most recognition. Clients who are deemed "job ready" and have an interview scheduled, are referred by social service agencies to Dress for Success Oregon. Each client meets one-on-one with a trained volunteer personal shopper at an appointed time to ensure that she receives the personal attention she deserves. During her one hour appointment she picks out five pieces of professional clothing with her personal shopper -- plus shoes, winter coat, bag and jewelry (if available). Professional volunteer hairstylists and make up artists are available on site in the Dress for Success Oregon Salon to enhance the woman’s appearance and sense of self-assurance (these services may require an additional appointment). The goal of the organization is to send each woman to her interview with workplace-appropriate clothing and, most importantly, a significant boost in her sense of self-confidence. Encouragement and support are an important part of this initial visit.
After getting a job, each woman is invited back to shop for another outfit and offered the opportunity to participate in the Professional Women’s Group, DFSO's job retention and support program.
